Nothing says romance like a wedding abroad. Oh, and combining your wedding and honeymoon? It’s a big fat YES from us. If you’re keen to say ‘I do’ and swiftly nip off on honeymoon then read on.
So, typically if you got married closer to home, you would then head off on honeymoon shortly after. However, these days couples are choosing to combine their wedding and honeymoon in a way that suits them. Plus, it saves time and money, win win.
The destination wedding is growing in popularity, did you know that one in ten Prezola couples get married abroad? From (almost) guaranteed good weather, the draw of an alfresco celebration and a backdrop to die for, we can see why.
How do you combine your wedding and honeymoon?
First thing’s first, your destination. Do you swoon at the thought of a romantic European destination, bursting with history and charm? Or are you more of a tropical island getaway kind of couple? Irrelevant of the destination, make sure you give your guests plenty of notice so they can plan accordingly.

Next, have a think about what kind of venue you would like. Whether that’s a beach wedding or a secluded old town square. Don’t forget to consider your guest list and make sure the venue is appropriate.
Top tip: Make sure you check whether your venue comes with a wedding planner. Dealing with all the decision making remotely with a language barrier means that a wedding planner is invaluable.
Consider whether you’d like a change of scenery after your wedding celebrations are over and you head off on honeymoon. Think about destinations like Mallorca where you could get married on one side of the island and head to another for your honeymoon.
Top tip: Don’t forget to check the legalities in your chosen destination- you may need to have a legal wedding day in the UK to make sure it’s all official. Check out our Registry office 101 guide.
